Gallery Overview

Two vanishing Chicago vernaculars anchor this gallery — the corner car shop and the classic hot dog stand — alongside a study of Roger Brown's life and studio, expressed through photography and paint.

Custer, Michigan Series

Six photographs document Custer, Michigan — a resilient farming town where empty storefronts and buildings wait, like so many across the rural Midwest, for a second life. This series is in the permanent collection of West Shore Community College.

All about Car Shops and Hot Dogs

Car shops and hot dog stands — two enduring Chicago business types — meet in this triptych. Ultra-high-resolution photographic diecuts, mounted in half-inch acrylic glass, flank a central painting drawn from the same source material.

Gallery Overview

Four places, one throughline: Alden and Sawyer, Michigan; Lucerne, Switzerland; and Chicago, Illinois — structures observed on-site and refined in the studio.

Alden, Michigan – Gothic Arch Barn

A Gothic arch barn in Alden, Michigan, examined from all four sides — comprising two Original Builds, each a documentary view. At center, a New Construction draws on all four, reworking the architecture into a more artful, interpretive form.
