FAQ
Print Quality
Prints are made on Somerset Velvet Fine Art Paper (Weight: 255 gsm, 19 mil), or Hot Press Smooth Matte Fine Art Paper (Weight: 330 gsm, 17 mil). Prints are carefully profiled for fantastically accurate, consistent quality using archival pigment inks. These 100% cotton rag, acid-free papers offer a velvet surface for accurate, detailed prints.
What does "archival quality" mean for pigment ink prints?
Archival quality refers to prints that are designed to resist fading and deterioration over time. My pigment ink prints use museum-grade pigment-based inks and acid-free papers that are rated to last 100+ years when properly displayed and cared for, maintaining their vibrant colors and detail for generations.
How long will my print last?
When displayed under normal indoor conditions (away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity), my pigment ink prints are rated to last over 100 years without significant fading. This longevity is comparable to traditional fine art prints and far exceeds standard dye-based inkjet prints, which may fade in as little as 10-20 years.
What makes pigment inks superior to dye-based inks?
Pigment inks contain microscopic solid particles that sit on top of the paper fibers, making them highly resistant to UV light, moisture, and environmental pollutants. Dye-based inks, in contrast, are absorbed into the paper and break down more quickly when exposed to light and air. This makes pigment inks the gold standard for fine art reproduction and archival printing.
What type of paper do you use?
I print on premium acid-free, lignin-free fine art papers specifically designed for archival longevity. These papers are pH-neutral and won't yellow or become brittle over time, ensuring your print remains in pristine condition for decades.
How should I care for my archival print?
To maximize the lifespan of your print: Display it away from direct sunlight or use UV-protective glass when framing. Avoid hanging in areas with high humidity (like bathrooms). Handle prints with clean, dry hands or cotton gloves. Store unframed prints flat in acid-free sleeves or folders. Consider professional framing with archival materials (acid-free mats and backing).
Can I frame my print with regular materials?
For best archival results, I recommend using acid-free mats, backing boards, and UV-protective glass or acrylic. Regular cardboard mats and backing can contain acids that migrate to your print over time, causing discoloration. Professional framers can provide archival-quality materials to protect your investment.
Are your prints suitable for collectors and galleries?
Absolutely. My pigment ink prints meet museum and gallery standards for archival quality. They're printed using the same materials and processes used by fine art photographers and printmakers worldwide, making them suitable for serious collectors, exhibitions, and long-term display.
Do you offer certificates of authenticity?
Yes, each artwork is accompanied by documentation detailing the materials used, printing process, and archival specifications.
Open Editions
An open edition print is an original print of the highest quality made with pigment based inks. Art should be accessible and available to anyone who may benefit from owning it. By offering open edition prints costs are kept low, allowing more people the opportunity to own and live with artworks they love.
Do I frame these prints myself?
Yes, we offer unframed prints so you can customize the look and feel of your final piece.

Returns and Exchanges on Prints
By purchasing a fine art print, you are making a conscious decision to buy not just a print, but a fine art print that will be individually printed just for you and quality-checked. Please take the time to carefully make your decision since prints cannot be returned or exchanged because they are made to order and the printing costs cannot be recovered. If the print does not match the expected product shown on my website due to an error on my end, I will offer to reship or refund the order. Photos will need to be submitted showing any defects (blurry, trimmed wrong, etc.)
