I played the golf course many times. There were no fences that separated the quarters from the airfield, although there were 2 fairways \u0026amp; greens of the golf course that ran the length of the south side of the runway from east to west. For an 11-year-old boy who was enamored with airplanes, it was the best vantage place on earth. Every morning was the sound of engines running up \u0026amp; take-offs, and by the afternoon, there were airplanes \u0026amp; helicopters landing.”\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI photographed the Haley AAF hangar in 2004. It has since been torn down.
